q is for quite a day

so yesterday and today i had asked off at my work sometime ago because my little sister had scheduled her c-section and wanted me to help her with her 36lb child. see they have this little rule that you can't lift anything heavier than your baby (its usually an 8lb rule, but with her first, who was over 8lbs, they made an exception) so i went over early in the morning and played with him outside. our goal was to wear him out by noon, so he could get in a little nap before his sister came, so he would be a good boy and not throw fits. well...

i played with him (we looked at bugs outside) and when mommy and daddy (my sis and bro.in.law) came to say bye, he wanted nothing to do with them and just let them leave. about 5 min later he went inside to look for them. apparently he was thinking this was just a visiting day for me. when he didn't find them he laid on the sidewalk to look down the stairs into the parking garage for them. then he whined a little and found some more bugs.

noon came, and i tried to put him down for his nap. my sister's trick is to not give him any milk, (he can have anything crackers, apples, water, juice but milk) at least 2 hours prior to his nap. he usually naps in the after noon (1:00/2:00) when sesame street is just over. so to pretend sesame street was just getting over, i put on an elmo video and closed all the blinds. (these are mood setters and nap indicators) gave him milk changed him... an hour later he was not asleep and the milk was gone. great. so i tried again, (he had a stinky diaper so i don't blame him for not just sleeping in it)

another milk another hour and ANOTHER stinky diaper later, i realized this wasn't going to happen. so on top of the changes going on around him, and no nap, he was needless to say, in for a rough day.

i brought him to the hospital after a visit from my parents (it helps to have new toys, not that this kid needs any) and he did rather well

we kept him busy until about 6 when no one (he himself, mommy and daddy) could take anymore. so i took him home to just release any and all energy and fits and on the way my husband realized he'd fallen asleep. we drove for about 1/2 hour so that he could get a good nap but not too long and then took him home. he was obviously pretty spent from no nap and learning to share his mommy's, daddy's and auntie's (because i'll be honest, i'm like his third parent :) ) attention with this little pink bundle.

after being a bit emotioanlly drained from watching him, and just tuckered from a long day, i was driving home and got a text from my manager. all it said was "watch the news tonight".

since this is already super long see "r is for..."

You are about the BEST SISTER in the universe. I have never seen anyone so sweet to dedicate all her Wednesdays off to visiting and babysitting your sister and nephew. Those wonderful hours spent there will be a bond that will last long into the eternity. I am so glad you are so close to KT and her sweet family.
It was fun to play for a while.
